Owner Interview with bjschumacher
Our interview today is with bjschumacher, who has completed 175 HBD seasons and is still in the hunt for his first series win. Let the questions begin:
“bj, where do you live?”
“I from Iowa and graduated from Iowa State. It’s where NBA superstar Tyreese Halliburton went to college.”
“Which MLB team do you follow?”
“My dad's brother moved his family down to Kansas City after he served in the Air Force and worked as an air traffic controller. I remember those days. First year for the Royal was in Municipal Stadium, where the KC Athletics played before they moved to California.”
“Who was your favorite player growing up?”
“Hmmmm, that's a tough one. Baseball, or football. I'll stick with baseball...Hal McRae.”
“What about a favorite memory?”
“That would be the George Brett and Billy Martin Pine Tar Game.”
“Being a Yankee fan, I think we’ll have differing views and opinions on that one. How did you find HBD?”
“Google probably, but that was a long time ago.”
“How many teams are you comfortable running?”
“I've had as many as 9 teams at once. But even though I'm retired now, probably 3 is my max. My wife and I have other plans.”
“How do you like to build your teams?”
“Pitching is easy. I always want to improve my hitting.”
“What is your favorite HBD team (past or present)?”
“I can't say. I've had too many.”
“Which aspect of HBD is your favorite?”
“Building a franchise, but I seem to find that hard, because in the past I always started to do that, then moved on. Maybe now that I'm retired, I might be more patient.”
“What would be the one thing you’d like to change about HBD?”
“Frankly, Frank, reduce the number of spring training games.”
“Ah, very witty. Thanks bj, appreciate you taking the time.”
