Owner Interview with thebigdogs
Next up is the bigdogs, owner of the Tucson Force. In 144 seasons in HBD he’s been able to come away with an impressive 19 WS victories. Let’s find out about this hugely successful owner:
“Hey dogs, thanks for giving me the opportunity to speak with you. What part of the world do you call home?”
“I live in Nebraska.”
“Without a ML team in your state, it begs the question, what team do you follow?”
“I’ve liked the Cubs since the late 80’s.”
“And who would your favorite player be?”
“I’d have to say Ryne Sandberg.”
“Definitely one of the best I’ve seen at the position. Would your favorite moment also involve the Cubbies?
“I have 3. Cal Ripken’s streak game because I think it started to bring back baseball. The 1998 homerun chase Sosa/BigMac, and the Cubs winning the World Series.”
“You’re very fortunate to have seen a Cubs WS win, let’s hope you get to see another and don’t have to another 108 years. How did you find HBD?”
“I played Stratomatic for a year and wanted a cheaper option. Found (HBD) on an internet search.”
“What’s the max number of teams you like to run?”
“3 is ideal but 4 is ok.”
“In what way do you like to construct your teams?”
“I build my offense with power. I would love to build on speed, and, hit and run but I do not think they are as effective in the post season when you are facing the best pitchers. Pitching I look for good splits first, then look at other factors. I am very aggressive in IFAs.”
“Do you have a favorite HBD team?”
“I have 2. My Fargo team in Stickball season 47. We went 135-27. Then my Charlotte team in Cobb won 5 world series in a row. That team was built for the playoffs.”
“What do you like most about this game?”
“The time commitment is about right. Not overly detailed but enough to make it fun and interesting.”
“If asked what needs to be changed or fixed in the game, what would your answer be?”
“The DH in the NL.”
“Ok, that answers all my questions. Thank you again for taking the time.”
